The Nordergründe wind park is currently planned for 18 turbines with a total capacity of 110.7 MW as well as an offshore substation (OSS). It is situated in the mouth of the Weser and Jade estuary, which is a highly morphodynamic area. A survey performed in 2014 shows that the seabed level in the area of the wind farm varies between 2 and 11 meters below LAT. The design life of the wind farm is anticipated to be 25 years.
ARC provided WPD with a review and risk assess the inner array and export cable installation. The deliverables also included methods on how to deal with issues that can arise during cable installation as a result of changes in the seabed elevation as well as available options for scour protection.
